Peel Region Lakeshore Trunk Sewer and Watermain Project - Updates

May 10, 2026 update: Elmwood Lot Parking Closure

Peel Region will be installing a new watermain and large sanitary sewer along Lakeshore Road between Jack Darling Memorial Park and Elmwood Avenue, and a new sanitary sewer on Wesley Avenue from Park Street to Lakeshore Road. We will also be replacing a section of watermain between Ibar Way and Shawnmarr Road. For more information on the project, visit our project webpage.

To complete this work, a working compound (construction site) will be set up on the northeast side of Lakeshore Road and Elmwood Avenue North intersection, within the public parking lot. This compound is essential for tunnelling and installing both the new large sewer and watermain along Lakeshore Road.

Please note:

  • The parking lot on Elmwood Avenue North and parking spaces on Lakeshore Road adjacent to the compound will be closed.
  • The compound location and parking impacts are shown on the attached map.

We anticipate starting to set up the working compound as early as May 11, 2026, and will require it to remain in place until Fall 2028. These dates are approximate and may change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

May 1, 2026: Construction & Lane Closure on Lakeshore Stavebank to Elizabeth Street

Port Credit BIA is in ongoing discussions with the Region of Peel Operations team, with a primary focus on minimizing impacts to our local business community.

Peel Region Operations has identified damaged water lines leaking into nearby utility chambers. This unexpected repair work is not related to the Project 19-2215 Water Main Project.

Crews are currently pumping water out of these chambers and plan to resume construction work at approximately 2:00 a.m. This overnight work is intended to reduce the impact of any required water shutdowns, helping businesses remain open during regular hours.

Construction activities will continue to be scheduled after business hours whenever possible to further limit disruptions.

Please note that the current lane closure is expected to remain in place through Monday.

Port Credit BIA will continue working closely with the Region of Peel to mitigate impacts on our businesses.

Businesses remain open, and we encourage everyone to continue to shop, dine, and explore #INThePort. Ample parking is available throughout Port Credit and remains unaffected.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Construction safety

Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe. Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking near the construction area. Watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, and consider other routes.

May 1, 2026 update: Noise and Work Schedule -Lakeshore Road at Pine Avenue South

An exemption has been made under the City of Mississauga Noise By-law to allow work to take place overnight between 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. to reduce the impact of our work. It will take place over two nights between May 1, 2026, and May 8, 2026.

We do not expect significant noise or vibrations above normal daytime construction levels during this time. Efforts will be made to reduce impacts to residents.
